All day anytime patties – Even for breakfast (by Dr. Sarah Kent, ND)
A burger for breakfast? Well sort of. I’m continuing my breakfast recipe campaign in order to provide great, diverse breakfast ideas, especially for those of you not eating breakfast. Breakfast is so important for energy, hormone and weight balance. Always make it a priority. This recipe includes a great source of protein which further enhances all those benefits breakfast alone provides.
1/4 apple diced
1/3 cup of frozen blueberries
1/3 cup of frozen corn
1 carrot, shredded or julienned
2 tbsp of apple sauce
1/4 cup of ground flax seed
1 tsp each of: rosemary, salt & pepper
1/2 lb of gr beef (preferably organic / grass fed)
1 tbsp of coconut oil
drizzle of maple syrup
*apple sauce for dipping
- Mix all together. Form into desired sized patties.
- Heat frying pan on medium high heat and melt 1 tbsp of coconut oil.
- Add patties and cook until done, flipping so both sides are well cooked and the interior is cooked to your desire.
- Top with a drizzle of maple syrup if desired.
Enjoy as snack, have for breakfast, eat as you would a hamburger. In this photo I added it to a bed of mixed greens in which I splashed EVOO and balsamic vinegar and dipped in raspberry apple sauce – for breakfast.
